Applications and Programming Models: "Large GPI-based 3D stencil computation," Mauricio Araya-Polo, Shell

Watch the video

Stencil operators are the basic building blocks in solving finite difference based
wave propagators, such as the ones that are used for seismic modeling
and migration (RTM). As such, these kernels are part of many contemporary
industry codes. Both, the software side (increasing data sets, physical
model complexity) as well as the hardware side (increasing machine
size, accelerator cards) increase the pressure to produce parallel and
scalable code.
